Not nearly as useful as I had expected
I guess it’s my own fault for never having had a generator before. My initial thought was to have this for running on the patio in my back yard during storms if power went out. I also got the full storage skirt since I planned on storing it out there as well year round. But after I got my generator (Westinghouse iGen12000TFC) I learned that this can’t be kept on. I will ALWAYS have to take it off and put it on and take it off and put it on endlessly, since oil consumption and levels are a huge issue for a running generator. Have to check the levels before you start, check it after it’s been running for hours. And the way this works with the straps, it LOCKS THE SIDE PANELS shut so you can’t remove anything. I guess technically I could remove the panels and put this on which would still protect the electrical panel but would let rain in the sides, which I have no idea what the repurcussions of that would be.
It’s nicely made, it actually FITS alright once you figure out how to get it placed (I can’t go too low or the strap would melt from the exhaust) and it LOOKS like it would protect it from the rain.
But they really need to figure out an option where you’re not totally pulling this off any time you need to check the oil… Maybe something that clamps along the four corners but does NOT go across that one side, so you can still access oil as needed without removing everything. As it is, seems it’s just wasted money for me now.

Bought after power outage in heavy rain. Haven’t tested yet but appears it will do the job. Setup videos on YouTube were helpful.

Excellent product, well made canopy. All materials were well thought out. Definitely a really nice upgrade for our Inverter Generator. We plan to use it on our RV bumper to protect the generator from the rain.

Excellent product except 1 thing!!
First off, I’d like to say this is an excellent product. Even though I gave it a 5-star rating, I probably would have given it 4.5 for one small reason. I ordered this GenTent right before our last power outage which lasted 5 days with 3 days of nothing but rain. The GenTent worked perfectly, covering my invertor/generator front panel and allowing me to run it through heavy rain at times.
Now to the reason for my 1/2-star deduction. During the 5-day outage, I needed to change the oil on my invertor/generator. I had to remove the ratchet strap and corner braces to remove the side panels to get access to change the oil. While very carefully (with a screwdriver like on the website) to remove the plastic extender arms, 2 of them broke. I was pretty careful when removing them just for that reason and they still broke. Just be careful when removing the extender arms. I only needed 2ea. on each corner and the kit comes with 12ea. extender arms, now I’m down to 2 spares. Other than that, it’s great to be able to run your generator in pouring rain and not worrying about the front panel or plug connections getting wet.

Gentent USA Made Extreme – my second one
I purchased the USA made extreme cover for my inverter generator. I purchased it based on my experience with the USA made extreme cover I have for the generator that I am replacing. Very high quality and looks like it will do the job intended. Initial setup was a little confusing. Much more complicated than the Gentent for non-inverter generators. Still, this looks to be a good product that will provide protection from the elements when I need to run the generator in the rain or snow.

I bought. My gentent in march 2026,Set it up but haven’t used it yet.But later I was taking it off and some how broke the framing rods.I called gentent ,found they were still under warranty.I had trouble with my email but they me thru it.The best thing about is you actually get to speak to humans who speak perfect English.Also,Jennifer the lady who helped me was very kind.These people are great to deal with.
