Bazaar Flawed Design
This kit is impossible to install in an existing wall as designed. The installer must either cut a much larger hole than necessary to provide clearance for the kit brackets, plus the transfer switch surface mount bracket and the conduit or modify the kit brackets. The transfer switch has an attach bracket for hanging on the back top side, the conduit outlet on the bottom and the kit provides brackets that attach to the two sides. The kit’s right angle brackets to be mounted on the side are designed to sit behind the wall board and additional brackets that the kit bezel mount screws to are flush with the wall surface share the same attachment screws. The transfer switch and 4 kit brackets must be attached before installation as the bracket mounting screws are located behind the wall surface.
I modified the right angle brackets designed to go behind the wallboard to be used flush with the surface allowing screws to be inserted into the stud on one side and sheet rock anchors on the other. I removed the transfer switch surface mount bracket spot welded to the top backside of the switch to allow for a hole in the wallboard just large enough for the transfer switch box.
Had I known how poorly designed this kit was I would have fabricated my own bezel and brackets.
